On February 13, 2008 in Olsztyn a meeting took place to summarize the first stage of works conducted so far in the former Jewish pre-burial house, designed by famous architect Erich Mendelssohn. The building is a property of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland and was made available to the Borussia Cultural Community Association. The latter is carrying out a project of revitalization of the building and of giving it a new function as the Center of Intercultural Dialogue.

Erich Mendelssohn, who designed the pre-burial house in Olsztyn, was one of the most famous architects of the 20th century. Born in Olsztyn in 1887, he was the designer of many exceptional buildings raised in Germany, Israel, Great Britain or the United States. The building in Olsztyn, located at the Jewish cemetery on today’s Zyndrama z Maszkowic street, is one of his early works.
