2007-03-25 Węgrów- the burial place for the Jews of Miedzna

The bodies were transported on a horse dray.

We know that the Jewish cemetery located near Liwiec existed already in 1621. It was fenced after 1835. The oldest tombstone dates back to 1789.

The cemetery in its old shape does not exist anymore. After the war 400 stone matzevot were collected and placed in a lapidarium. In its center a small monument was erected in 1982 to commemorate the Jews murdered by the Nazis during the war.

In our gallery we present the pictures of the matzevot from the cemetery in Węgrów.
