Who are we

High School in Józefów

Jewish community in our town

Before the Second World War the Jewish community constituted 70% of the population of Józefów. Most were killed during the massacre in Józefów in 1942.  

What we do in the project

Above all we are looking forward to create a Hall of Memory in the building of former synagogue in Jozefów, in which we will present the materials gathered by the students of our High School. The Hall of Memory will host a permanent exhibition presenting the tragic history of Jewish population of Józefów. We also plan the publication of a folder containing the above information in three languages: Polish, English an Hebrew. During the works the students will acquire an important ability of describing places and events related to the Jewish history and culture in both Polish an English. 
All activities described above will be realized for the first time in the town of Józefów.
