"One thing I know, I'm about to perish. The Holocaust in Occupied Poland"
Traveling Exhibition

"One thing I know, I'm about to perish" - these are the words of Marjem Tyk, a nineteen-year-old Jewish woman, written on the back of a photograph thrown away from a train to the German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.

They became the title of an exhibition prepared by the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. As a traveling exhibition, it will be presented in Zamość from July to October at the "Synagogue" Center of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland.

Seventeen panels present a chronology of the Holocaust carried out by Nazi Germany. Genocide, which almost completely destroyed the Polish Jews, the socially and culturally diverse community. The exhibition shows the persecutions in Germany and in the territories occupied by the Third Reich. Based on archival photographs and testimonies, including those from Zamość, it will trace the entire machinery of the Holocaust, as well as the acts of resistance and attempts at survival undertaken by Jews.

We invite you to the official opening of the exhibition "One thing I know, I'm about to perish. The Holocaust in Occupied Poland" on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. From 16:00 to 18:00, you are welcome to explore the exhibition on your own. A curatorial tour will take place at 18:00. Admission to this event is free.

The project is funded by the people of Norway and the Polish national budget as part of the Jewish Cultural Heritage project.

The exhibition is on display at the "Synagogue" Center of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland, Pereca Street 14, 22-400 Zamość.
