On January 17, 2008, the date of the Judaism Day, the students of the Middle School had a meeting in the Janusz Korczak Hall with father Sebastian of the Bernardine Monastery in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. The subject was: “Connections between the Old and New Testament based on the document of the Pontifical Biblical Commission entitled, ‘The Jewish People and their Sacred Scriptures in the Christian Bible’.
It may sound very scientific, but it has to, since the subject was based on the father Sebastian’s thesis. Father is our Religion teacher, and it is no secret that he is liked among our students. Probably the fact that he is usually walking around the school with his backpack and guitar might have something to do with it. He presented the matter of dialogue between Judaism and Christianity in a simple and comprehensive way, adjusting it to the level of comprehension of particular classes. That is why every lecture was different in style, dialogue and in conclusions made by students. The form itself of the lecture was different, as was its location, what made it much more attractive for the students and helped them memorize the informations. It was not our first Day of Judaism, and therefore our students possess already an extended knowledge of the Jewish culture and religion, Judaism and values. The subjects such as multiculturality, anti-Semitism and racism were also discussed. The hall in which the lectures took place was decorated with the artworks of our students participating in the art contest. They are visible on the pictures
