2013-05-07 ALAN METNICK'S EXHIBITION

From April 3rd to May 7th, 2013 an exhibition ‘Prints and Drawings' by Alan Metnick was presented at the ‘Synagogue’ Center of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland. The exhibition was prepared in cooperation with the Warsaw-based Klatka Gallery www.galeriaklatka.pl. An official opening of the exhibition and a meeting with the artist took place on April 11th.

Alan Metnick was born in Chicago in 1941.  He earned a Bachelors Degree in History at The University of Wisconsin and a Masters Degree in Photography at The Rhode Island School of Design.  For over 40 years he has been creating images and objects using different techniques, such as photography, serigraphy (silk screens), stained glass, painting, drawing, and textiles.  The main source of inspiration for his work has been various historical, biblical, and personal contexts.

Since the 1970's he has lead an active life within the artistic, educational, and business communities.  He has taught and lectured at numerous Colleges and Universities.  He has produced numerous portfolios of his own work as well as the work of others.  He has been exhibited in countless group and one man shows. Examples of his work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City as well as The Library of Congress in Washington DC.
