Jewish cemetery in Szczebrzeszyn on Cmentarna St. was established in 16th century. On the necropolis’ area there are 400 visible tombstones. The majority can be dated on 16th century. The oldest steles are located on the edge of the cemetery nearby Cmentarna St.  During World War II on the cemetery there took place common burials of Jews executed by the Nazis. The cemetery is listed on the register of historical monuments. Nowadays a project on renovating the cemetery is being prepared. On October 2006 the town will be visited by the originators of the undertaking – Michael Lozman, PhD and Rabbi Abie Ingber from U.S.A.
