  Kluczbork, opolskie

Jewish cemetery is located two kilometers from Kluczbork. First Jews began to settle in town in first half of 18th century. Jewish Community was established in Kraskow in 1765 – in the same year the cemetery was founded.  It was closed in 1926. During World War II it was completely destroyed by the Nazis. The matzevot were used as a building material. Today there are about 60 matzevot left. Many of them are damaged and graves are collapsed.  The cemetery is surrounded by brick wall with a gate. The cemetery is 0.42 ha.Jewish cemetery on Opolska St.

 – After Word War II on the cemetery there was created a resting ground for Soviet soldiers. Nobody knows what happened with matzevot – 6 of them were put near the gate to the communal gate. The matzevot are untypical (dated on 19th century, but without Hebrew inscriptions). They’re relating to i.a. Hoffmann family. One can observe Jewish symbolism on them – common bass-reliefs of winged hourglass.
