The program host, Mrs Edyta Brzozowska, told us that she came to our school because she has learned about different activities we are undertaking: our cycle of religious sessions “Silesia as the centre of three interpenetrating religions; Catholicism, Evangelic and Judaism”, and our educational program “Following the trail of Jews in Upper Silesia”.
The meeting with TV reporters became a good reason to invite all those who were co-working with us on preparing the sessions and supported our activities:
Rev. Dean Antoni Szczypka, parish priest of the Roman Catholic Parish of the Holiest Heart of Lord Jesus in Czerwionka; Rev. Henryk Reske, parish priest of the Evangelic Parrish in Czerwionka-Leszczyny, and Mr Wlodzimierz Kac – Head of the Jewish Community in Katowice.
The students realizing the project prepared visualizations of all their activities. Bartek Radwan – leader of the researchers group – played a multimedia presentation dedicated to Oskar Troplowitz. Magda Urban in her colorful apron invited everyone to taste different Jewish cuisine specialties she cooked herself, while the historians group (including Sandra Laska, Alicja Koczubik, Agnieszka Pyszny, and Bartek Radwan) presented a simulation of working with source texts. Artists from the Jewish paper cutout group (Magdalena Wasiak, Marcelina Blinda, Kamil Piatek) with their leader Vanessa Piekielnik, made us discover the secrets of creating wonderful pieces of paper art. Magnificent members of the culture group – singers and dancers – enriched our presentation with their songs (sung in Yiddish and Hebrew), and dances. Finally the movie group invited us to the war-torn Czerwionka during the World War II.
In one word; all was perfect.
We present our thanks to Malgorzata Pyszny and Marcin Gorzawski for their help in preparation of this meeting.
