We are very sorry to inform that on the night of August 31st, 2013 the Renaissance synagogue in Zamość, restored by the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland, was attacked by vandals, who painted an Anti-Semitic slogan on the facade of the building. The Foundation informed the police about the incident.
The synagogue in Zamość was restored by the Foundation within the framework of the project 'Revitalization of the Renaissance synagogue in Zamość for the needs of the Chassidic Route and the local community', which received support from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
In April 2011, the 'Synagogue' Center, created to serve the needs of Jewish visitors to Zamość as well as those of its inhabitants, was opened within the renovated building. Since then nearly 100 educational and cultural events took place there. Over 25 thousand people, including almost a thousand Zamość students, participated in them.
