2022-09-29 “Places Discovered. The Friends' Exhibition”

Authors of the exhibition and the "Synagogue" Center of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland is pleased to invite you to the exhibition entitled "Places Discovered. The Friends' Exhibition".

The friends are two Artists: a graphic artist and photographer, Alan Metnick and Jerzy Tyburski, who create paintings and graphics. Their works, although from various fields of art, will be displayed in one place.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on September 29, 2022 at 5:00 pm at the "Synagogue" Center at Pereca 14 St. in Zamość.
Exhibition will be presented until the end of November 2022.

Alan Metnick about the exhibition:
"Jerzy and I create primarily in different mediums; he paints, I photograph. He uses color, I use black and white. His reality is surreal. Mine is often serendipitous.
Both offer surprises and both explore our own minds and ways of seeing and understanding the world we live in; finding and expressing our own acceptance of love, pathos, tragedy, faith and hope through visual means.
We both present challenges to the viewers of our work. They are puzzles of a sort; why the crooked and bent table, why are there only lips and no face, is there a face somewhere in those trees, is it a mirror or a window, a reflection or a darkened view, how did that pigeon suddenly appear in that place... and perhaps importantly: will seeing this make me think and feel differently about anything? Will there be an impact that moves the viewer to another place?
Is there emotional, evocative worth in these works?
The challenge is to create images that make people ask questions; to wonder and question their own perceptions and open up and allow for other perceptions/realities to enter.
Our work together heightens the challenge because of the differences of our individual manner, which makes for a more complexity and nuance.
We both honor this."
