Restoration works are carried out in the 19th century building of the synagogue in Kolno. Once the renovation is completed, the building will host a tourist center and will serve, among others, numerous Jewish groups from all over the world. Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland is a partner of this project.
In December 2009 a memorial tablet commemorating the Jewish community of Kolno, financed by the Foundation, was unveiled on the building of the synagogue. In 2005 the local Jewish cemetery was fenced and cleaned up by the Foundation, thanks to generosity of an anonymous donor, a descendant of a Kolno Jewish family, and Rabbi Shlomo Besser from the International Committee for the Preservation of Jewish Memorial Sites.
