Following the information about a theft of matzevot from the Jewish cemetery in Krzepice, Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland asked the Provincial Monument Conservator to provide special protection to the cemetery, which still has about 640 matzevot left, the oldest one dating back to 1749. Jewish cemetery in Krzepice also has one of the largest collections of 19th century cast iron tombstones; there are about 400 of them.
