2012-03-15 THE 'SYNAGOGUE' CENTER IN ZAMOSC
On March 15th, 2012 at the ‘Synagogue’ Center of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland a meeting promoting the first issue of a periodical ‘Jewish Studies. Almanac’ took place. The ‘Almanac’ is published by the State Higher School of Vocational Education in Zamosc www.pwszzamosc.pl. The Editor in Chief is Professor Konrad Zielinski. In the periodical there are not only articles about the town of Zamosc and the region, but also texts concerning widely understood culture and history of Jews, contemporary Polish-Jewish relations as well as studies concerning Israel and the Middle East. Regarding the magnificent cultural heritage of Zamosc, a town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, articles relating to art history, especially Jewish art, will also be published in the ‘Almanac’.
In the Editorial Board of the ‘Almanac’ there are: Natalia Aleksiun, Historical Institute of the Polish Academy of Science/ Touro College, New York; Alina Cała, Jewish Historical Institute, Warsaw; Małgorzata Domagalska, University of Lodz; Semyon Goldin, Hebrew University, Jerusalem; Robert Kuwałek, State Museum at Mjadanek, Lublin; Artur Markowski, University of Warsaw; Pavel Polian, University of Freiburg / Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow; Shaul Stampfer, Hebrew University, Jerusalem; Wacław Wierzbieniec (Chairman of the Board), University of Rzeszow. The Associate Editor is Magdalena Cześniak-Zielińska.
