Thanks to the intervention of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland, the authorities of Opatow modified the park regulations in order to assure a proper behavior of visitors on the grounds of prewar Jewish cemetery.
Jewish cemetery in Opatow on Kopernika St. was established in the 16th century. Devastated by the Nazi Germans during the World War II it was finally liquidated by the communist authorities back in 1960’s. Currently there is a lapidarium and a monument standing on the cemetery grounds.
