2012-12-17 THE 'SYNAGOGUE' CENTER IN ZAMOSC
From March 1st to December 17th in Zamosc the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland implemented the project Creating a team of cultural animators for the ‘Synagogue’ Center. Its main aim was to create a team of qualified culture-oriented volunteers to support educational and cultural activity of the Center.
Within the framework of the project 11 young people took part in the series of lectures and workshops, which prepared them to conduct activities in the field of education and animation of culture as well as to organize cultural events. During the training volunteers possessed a broad knowledge about history and culture of Zamosc Jewry and practical skills regarding organization of cultural and educational activities.
The most important task carried out by the volunteers was to develop and run educational workshops for school students, during which by using creative methods of work they not only passed on knowledge but also interest for discovering multicultural past of Zamosc and the region. Over 500 school students from Zamosc took part in workshops carried out in the ‘Synagogue’ Center in autumn 2012. Today these classes are an regular element of educational activity of the Center, and the work of volunteers supports and enriches its actions.
The project Creating a team of cultural animators for the ‘Synagogue’ Center was implemented in cooperation with the ‘Well of Memory’ Association and the Center for Jewish History and Culture of the State Higher School of Vocational Education in Zamosc.
