With deep grief and sorrow we inform that today in the morning, 27 of November 2013 after long fight with terrible disease, David Abraham Akiva Peleg, former Israeli Ambassador to Poland (2004-2009), and member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland, passed away.

Ambassador Peleg, born in Jerusalem, Israel, in 1942, completed elementary and secondary education in Jerusalem. Following his service in the Israeli Defense Forces (1960-62), he studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and received a degree in General History and History of Islam in 1965.  During his long diplomatic career he served in Israeli diplomatic missions in Lusaka, Atlanta, London, Washington D.C., New York and Geneva. Warsaw, where he served as an Ambassador, was his last diplomatic post.  After leaving Foreign Ministry in 2009 he was appointed as Director General of World Jewish Restitution Organization.

David Peleg, or "Pomi" as his friends called him, was not only an experienced diplomat, but also a big enthusiast of jazz music and a connoisseur of painting.
