linia 2014-03-28 THE 'SYNAGOGUE' CENTER IN ZAMOSC

On March 28th, 2014 at the 'Synagogue' Center of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland a meeting with Anna Dobrowolska, the author of the book ‘Photographer from Auschwitz’, and with Ireneusz Dobrowolski, the author of an award-winning documentary ‘The portraitist’, took place. The meeting also included a screening of the documentary. The book was published in partnership with the Foundation.

The book and the movie tell the history of Wilhelm Brasse, an Auschwitz prisoner who spent five years in the camp. As a professional photographer, he was forced to take photos of prisoners arriving to the camp, document the pseudo-medical experiments and also take private photos of the Auschwitz staff. He took over 50 thousand photos.
