As part of the activities undertaken by the Coalition of Guardians of Jewish Cemeteries in Poland, at the initiative of Mr. Mirosław Kędzior, in recent days a group of several volunteers carried out clean-up works at the Jewish cemetery in Sokołów Małopolski. They focused on cleaning-up the area close the entrance, because there was also the biggest litter there: debris, cut branches, piles of bottles and other garbage. Following earlier announcement Director of the City Purification Plants, Mr. Grzegorz Kwiecień delivered two waste containers and a trailer with a tractor to take away cut branches. FODZ takes this opportunity to offer our warm thanks to the city authorities for providing this service free of charge. The Director, who took this opportunity to visit the Jewish cemetery in his city, was amazed by the beauty of the gravestones and the general charm of this place. We are convinced that this initiative will result in a change of attitude to the common history and common centuries-old heritage of the inhabitants of this area. Please view the attached photographs documenting the works. They were taken before, during and after the cleanup works and illustrate the activities of volunteers, which illustrate actions of volunteers undertaken within the framework of the Coalition of Guardians of Jewish Cemeteries in Poland.
