On November 2, 2021, a civil action will take place to clean up the new Jewish cemetery in Kraśnik. The action is organized with the support of a grant from the Ministry of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland for the activities of the Coalition of Guardians of Jewish Cemeteries in Poland. The grant was awarded to the Cultural Heritage Foundation.
Cleaning the cemetery will consist of:
- manual collection of garbage thrown in the cemetery, mainly bottles;
- felling branches of trees and shrubs, but only where necessary to pave the way for getting to the next parts of the cemetery;
- raking humus from the side of Szewska Street in order to collect a glass pestle, the collection of which by hand would require a very long time with a large involvement of human labor.
The initiator of the above activities is Dr. Dominik Szulc, the social guardian of the monuments of the Kraśnik District. Currently, volunteers are being collected for the action. Funds for the removal and disposal of garbage have already been secured. The waste will be collected by company EKO-LAND from Kraśnik. We take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation and warm thanks to all the FODŻ partners who will make these activities possible.
