linia 2022-10-12 Local authorities in Chojnice declare their commitment to the preservation of Jewish cemeteries

On October 11, 2022, a representative of FODZ met with the Mayor of Chojnice, Mr. Arseniusz Finster. During the meeting, the Mayor declared that municipal services will cover area of two Jewish cemeteries in this town with constant care, consisting in regular maintenance of order and caring for greenery. At the same time, he announced that the Municipality will provide two boulders on which plaques will be placed indicating that plots located near them is the area of necropolis. The activities will be undertaken as part of the nationwide program of marking Jewish cemeteries implemented by the National Heritage Board of Poland (NID). We take this opportunity to express our appreciation and deep thanks to the local authorities of Chojnice, including the Mayor personally for their help in protecting the objects of Jewish heritage.
