linia 2022-10-14 Marking of the cemetery in Lubartów

As part of cooperation of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland (FODZ) with the local authorities of Lubartów and the National Heritage Board of Poland (NID), on October 10, 2022, the area of the Jewish cemetery in Lubartów located between Lubelska Street and Legionów Street was marked. This cemetery was built at the end of the sixteenth century and was used until the beginning of the nineteenth century. During the Second World War, the necropolis was devastated, the Nazis set up a gallows on its territory and carried out executions. In 1948, the cemetery was planted and transformed into a park (Jordan garden). All traces of the graves were erased.
