linia 2007-04-19 WARSAW

On April 19th, 1943, an uprising started in Warsaw ghetto against Nazi occupants.
On the anniversary of this event let’s light the candles together to pay homage to those who died for the freedom and diversity of their city.  The lights will be burning in 10 places in the city:

1.        Jana Pawła Str. between Sienna and Zlota;
2.       Zelazna, corner of Chlodna;
3.       Solidarnosci, corner of Zelazna;
4.       Bankowy Sq.;
5.       Jana Pawla, corner of Krochmalna;
6.       Jana Pawla near Zelaznej Bramy Sq.;
7.       Solidarnosci Al. near the Court;
8.       Twarda Str. between Zelazna and Zlota;
9.       Stawki Str. near the Umschlagplatz monument;

At 8:00 PM, using the rows of burning candles, we will trace a fragment of the prewar street system going through the Ghetto Heroes Square. Straight lines traced by the candles will form a fragment of the city that no longer exists.
Let’s honor the memory of those who were murdered during the uprising, along with their entire world - Warsaw, the city which for hundred years they were calling their home.
