We have the pleasure to inform that thanks to the efforts of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland an access road to the Jewish cemetery in Jaroslaw has been built. Before the cemetery grounds had no direct connection with the public roads and were available only thanks to the kindness of the owners of the nearby parcels. Direct access by the road means that the next stage of protection works - building the fence around the cemetery – can begin.
The cemetery in Jaroslaw, established in 1699, was twice gravely devastated: first in 1869, during the anti-Semitic riots, and then during the World War II, when the Nazi moved most of the matzevot away from the cemetery and used them as a building material. Today there is no more than 20 matzevot remaining on the cemetery grounds, the oldest one dates back to 1850.
