On March 11, 2008, a meeting between the city authorities and the representatives of the Jewish community took place in Torun on the initiative of the Senator Jan Wyrowinski. Among the subjects discussed was the need for taking action toward the renovation and proper commemoration of the Jewish Cemetery in Torun, which was transformed into a municipal park. The Jewish side was represented by the delegates of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland, and the President of the City Council was speaking on behalf of Torun delegation. It was decided that a task group will be formed to prepare the criteria of a contest for the arrangement of the cemetery grounds and for a proper commemoration of the resting place of the Jews from Torun. » back |
