Thanks to the intervention of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland, the authorities of Opatow decided to remove a playground located on the grounds of local Jewish cemetery. The playground was relocated to the nearby kindergarten.
Jewish cemetery in Opatow on Kopernika St. was established in the 16th century. Devastated by the Nazi Germans during the World War II it was finally liquidated by the communist authorities back in 1960’s. Currently there is a lapidarium and a monument standing on the cemetery grounds. » back
