On September 21st, 2011 a representative of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland took part in the ceremony of unveiling a tablet commemorating Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalischer (1795-1874) one of the forerunners of the Zionist Movement. The tablet was placed on the façade of the house at 46 Szeroka St., where the Rabbi used to live. The ceremony was one of the main events of the World Congress of the Hebrew Language, which is taking place between September 21-22, 2011 in Torun.

The event was organized by the Brit Ivrit Olamit (World Congress of the Hebrew Language) organization, promoting Hebrew language and culture. Among the co-organizers are the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan, the Higher School of the Hebrew Philology in Torun, the Haskala Foundation and the Poznan branch of the Union of Jewish Communities in Poland.
