Prewar Torah scrolls were ceremonially buried on the Okopowa cemetery today. The scrolls survived the war, but were damaged to the point that they were deemed unfit for religious purposes. Our Foundation was a partner of the event. In near future a matzeva will be installed on the site, with the following text:

“Here lie Torah scrolls that survived the Holocaust, but were rendered unfit for use.The scrolls are buried here in accordance with our tradition as stated by the prophet:"Take these books... and place them in earthenware vessels, so that they will endure for many days". Jeremiah 32,14Nissan 5777, April 2017Jewish Community of WarsawIn cooperation with Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland”
