On August 25, 2021, representative of FODZ participated in the ceremony of commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the extermination of the Jewish community of Tykocin. The program of the ceremony, organized by the Museum in Tykocin and the local authorities of this town, included, among others, laying flowers at the place of extermination in the Łopuchowo Forest and unveiling plaques with the names of the murdered, which was located in the vicinity of the Great Tykocin Synagogue. The ceremonies were also accompanied by talks between the representative of FODZ and the Mayor of Tykocin, Mr. Mariusz Dudziński and the Deputy Starosta of the Białystok District, Mr. Roman Czepe, on the cooperation of FODZ with the local self-government authorities for the protection of the Jewish cemetery in Tykocin. Mr. Mayor expressed his readiness to take care of the cemetery by the local authorities, for which we would like to thank him very much.
