On April 26, 2022, representatives of the local authorities of Nowogród, descendants of the former Jewish community of this town and FODZ took part in a ceremony of unveiling a plaque telling history of the Jewish community in Nowogród, dating back to the fifteenth century until the Holocaust. It is no coincidence that the date of this commemoration was chosen on the eve of Yom HaShoah, when the entire Jewish world commemorates victims of the Holocaust. The plaque is not only to commemorate the community that lived and co-created pre-war Nowogród, but also to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. The ceremony was attended by Rabi, Yitzhak Rappaport from Warsaw, who said a prayer for the dead and the victims of the Holocaust. The sign board was created thanks to the support provided by the American Foundation Friends of Jewish Heritage in Poland, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who is a descendant of the rabbi of the Nowogród synagogue district, Hersz Pelterowicz, who was active in the nineteenth century. A representative of the descendants of the former Jewish community of Nowogród, Jeff Miller, in his speech emphasized that the location of the plaque is a first step for wider cooperation with local authorities and current residents of Nowogród. The indicated goal is to construct a fence of the cemetery area and to commemorate the people who were put to rest there. Addressing the participants of the ceremony, the mayor of Nowogród, Mr. Grzegorz Palka, stressed that it is necessary to remember about history and the fact that Nowogród was also created by the Jewish community that lived in this town.
