It is with deep feelings of sadness that we received the news of the death of Marian Turski of blessed memory, a Holocaust survivor of the Łódź Ghetto and the German Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp.
Marian was a great moral leader and an advocate of Polish-Jewish understanding, who devoted many of his years to preserving the memory of former Polish Jewish communities and protecting Jewish heritage in Poland. His attitude was an inspiration for many activities undertaken by the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland to preserve for future generations of Poles and Jews the material traces left by former Polish Jewish communities in the cultural, social and religious landscape of many Polish cities and towns and their wider surroundings.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family.
May his memory be for a blessing.
