On November 15, 2006, Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland offered Mr. Tomasz Jamrog as a candidate for the Best Volunteer of the Lower Silesia Award, confered by the Lower Silesia province authorities. Tomasz Jamrog, in cooperation with our Foundation and within the framework of a “Volunteers at service of monuments” program, coordinated by the “Krzyzowa” Foundation, for 12 months worked at the Jewish cemetery in Klodzko and undertook several activities aimed at protecting Jewish heritage of the Lower Silesia. Apart from restoration works Mr. Jamrog was organizing educational activities for students devoted to the history of the Klodzko Jews, created a website of the Klodzko Jewish cemetery www.cmentarz.info, participated in a conference in Zielona Gora (where he presented a paper concerning history of the Swidnica Jews) and wrote two articles for a book “History of the Klodzko Jews” that will be published by the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland. Mr. Jamrog also participated in restoration works at the Dzierzoniow synagogue, prepared documentation for the Ziebice synagogue, and contributed to exhibiting unique medieval matzevot at the Trade Museum in Swidnica. » back |
