linia 2007-10-01 THE CHASSIDIC ROUTE. LEZAJSK

It is with great joy that we inform you that the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland has received additional funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for the construction of a lapidarium on the Jewish cemetery in Lezajsk (podkarpackie province). The works will be carried out within the framework of the Chassidic Route Project. The necropolis in Lezajsk is a resting place of the famous Tzaddik Elimelech of Lezajsk, visited every year by thousands of Jews from all around the world. The reason for building the lapidary is the protection of the fragments of the destroyed matzevot located on the cemetery grounds around the ohel where the Tzaddik Elimelech was buried.
