linia 2005-07-25 Klodzko

Between the 18th and the 25th July 2005 the first stage of restoration works conducted on the initiative of the Foundation at the Kłodzko cemetery has been completed. A group of 25 volunteers from the “Antyschematy” Association, supervised by Mr. Jerzy Fornalik, cleaned up the area of the cemetery. Numerous matzevot from the 19th and from the beginning of the 20th century have been discovered. The project of cleaning up the cemetery was carried out in co-operation with several local partners. We are especially grateful to Mr. Antoni Gałuza, the Director of the European Union Primary School no. 6 in Kłodzko, who allowed the volunteers to stay for free in the school building. The project of restoring the cemetery has attracted friendly attention of the Klodzko authorities, citizens and of the local media. Mr. Janusz Rudnicki, the vice-mayor of Kłodzko, visited the cemetery and declared financial support for the continuation of the project in 2006. The Kłodzko authorities declared to help the Foundation with preserving the trees that grow at the cemetery. The next stage of renovation works will begin in September 2005 and will be conducted in co-operation with the Foundation for European Agreement “Krzyżowa” (Fundacja dla Porozumienia Europejskiego “Krzyżowa”).
