At the beginning of August 2005, on the initiative of the Foundation, a group of students participating in the “Antyschematy” action, organized by the Janusz Korczak Society and supervised by Mr. Jerzy Fornalik, has cleaned up the Jewish cemetery in Lesko.
A group of only 17 young people within just 11 days cleaned up the whole area. They had to cut down bushes and young trees that had overgrown the cemetery and to remove heaps of garbage (consisting mainly of shattered bottles). We hope that the Lesko citizens will respect the work of these young people and will not treat the cemetery as a free rubbish dump any more.
