linia 2005-09-13 Warsaw

On September 13th 2005 representatives of the Foundation met with a group of volunteers from a German Society of Christian-Jewish Cooperation. The volunteers listened to Tomasz Krakowski’s lecture about the history of the Warsaw “Nożyków” synagogue and about Warsaw’s pre-war Jewish community. The group came to Poland to clean up the old Jewish cemetery in Szczebrzeszyn, which was a part of the Signs of Penitence Project – Service for Peace. The cleanup works lasted from 5th to 12th of September. The cooperation between the Foundation and the Society will be continued next year, when the cemetery will be inventoried.
On behalf of the volunteers and the Foundation we would like to thank Mr. Marian Mazur, the Szczebrzeszyn Mayor, for his help.
