On October 29, 2008, a lecture by Ph.D. Slawomir Zurek, Professor of the Catholic University in Lublin entitled 'John Paul II As a Man of Reconciliation between Christians and Jews', was delivered in in the former synagogue building which today hosts the Town Library in Tarnobrzeg (lubelskie province). Over 100 students of local schools participated in the event, which was realized within the frames of the 'Research on the Attitude Towards Jews and Their Heritage. Cooperation with Local Partners in Selected 15 Towns. Education for Tolerance' program, supported by the Batory Foundation.
