On January 27, 2009, the ceremony commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day took place at the Ghetto Heroes Monument in Warsaw. The event, which was held under honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland and the President of the City of Warsaw, was organized by the Shalom Foundation.

Participating in the ceremony were the representatives of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland.
