On June 16, 2009, unknown perpetrators have attacked the Jewish cemetery in Gdańsk-Chelm. An anti-Semitic slogan was painted on a tablet placed at the gate of the newly-renovated cemetery. Local Jewish community reported this case to the Police. The President of Gdansk, Pawel Adamowicz, expressed his regret in an official letter to the local community.

The cemetery was often attacked by the vandals in the past.
