On the 19th of April 2005, at 12 am, on the 62nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, hundreds of people – Poles and Jews – gathered together to commemorate those who in 1943 started a struggle for their human dignity. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Polish Government, the Israel embassy, several Jewish organizations, groups of students from Warsaw and Israel and also by the survivors of the Uprising, including one of their leaders: Marek Edelman.
