2006-05-23 Ilza - a ceremony of rededication of the Jewish cemetery

On May 21, 2006 a ceremony of rededication of the Jewish cemetery in Ilza took place. The cemetery has been cleared up and fenced by the Foundation, the Polish Jewish Cemetery Restoration Project (PJCRP) and the Drildzer Congregation and Society, which associates descendants of the Ilza Jews.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Foundation, the PJCRP, the landsmanshaft and the municipal authorities. A local priest and several citizens of Ilza were also present, together with a large number of pupils and students from Ilza schools, accompanied by their teachers. An important part of the ceremony was the moment of handing awards to the students of Mikolaj Kopernik Secondary School in Ilza, who took part in the Feldman Family literary contest.
